Who I am and why I created ‘The Next Octave’…

Hi! I'm Andrea, and I'll be your guide on this musical journey of discovery, reflection, and healing. I’ve been a professional singer/songwriter for almost two decades now in electronica duo Brite Lite Brite. I've always written songs about my personal experiences, and they've helped me overcome some of the most difficult challenges in my life. They've also led me to some of the most incredible experiences of my life. I'd love to help you learn how you can do the same.

Artist Bio.

Andrea’s career highlights include winning the grand prize in the electronic category in the John Lennon Songwriting contest for her song 'Sky Turns Red' that is about the difficult time she had dealing with her grandmother's death and how she came to her in a dream ten years after her passing. She received semi-finalist placement for three of her songs in the International Songwriting Competition, 'Now That You're Around' is about her college boyfriend who was optimistic and nothing like her previous boyfriends, 'Radioactive Love' is about her lifetime patterns of feeling like she never really belonged, and 'He Still Lives with Us' is a co-write about a friend who passed away while studying at Berklee.

Andrea performed live among major label artists, M.I.A., Joan Jett, and Ludacris at Virgin Mobile Fest and Mumford & Sons, The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Ellie Goulding at Lollapalooza as a result of her original songwriting. Her song 'I Lost My Heart Tonight' is about her biggest relationship heartbreak, and it made an impact on the search committee for Lollapalooza who invited BLB to perform an all original set on Perry's Stage.

Another one of Andrea’s most personal and emotional songs, ‘Addiction’ won her a scholarship seat in celebrity and holistic vocal coach Cari Cole's online 'Signature Songwriting Circle' giving her the opportunity to work with Cari and her industry vetted songwriters (who've written songs with/for John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Bella Poarch), and it premiered at a Berklee College of Music Reach Out initiative event where Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels of Run-DMC spoke about mental health awareness. She wrote this song when her boyfriend was in the throes of addiction and almost died from an overdose. Andrea will be releasing these songs over this next year in her brand new Artist Patreon (details below).

Andrea received a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music (2004) and a Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University (2011). Additionally, she received Sound Healing Practitioner Training Certification from Shannon Brown Healing Arts (2024) and is the founder of The Next Octave.

Learn more about Songwriting for Healing

In addition to creating her own music, Andrea loves helping others overcome difficult life challenges through songwriting.

She believes that we can take a negative situation and transmute it into something positive through the songwriting process.

It is important to express our emotions, so they don’t get trapped inside of us causing emotional and physical issues like stomach aches, headaches, and other problems.
